Why CONSERVE EDEN?
The greater Plettenberg Bay area, and the Garden Route in general, is quite simply a biodiversity marvel. A near pristine marine environment, with a gorgeous bay teeming with life, a mix of forest, fynbos, estuary, and coastline habitats – we really do live in a biodiversity hotspot! A number of international and national accreditations or statuses highlight this – Plett is an Important Bird & Biodiversity Area listed by BirdLife International, a Mission Blue Hope Spot, a Whale Heritage Area, includes two Marine Protected Areas, falls within the UNESCO Garden Route Biosphere Reserve. As one of several local conservation organizations in the area, we strive to ensure that biodiversity can co-exist with people in this special area.
ABOUT US
Conserve Eden is the outcome of our combined passion for doing high-quality scientific research, cutting-edge conservation, and passing on knowledge and passion to the next generation of biologists. We love getting involved in local issues, developing innovative solutions to conservation problems, and joining forces with others to make a difference.
